TPN‘s Trifling Diva of the Week

Steve Slater

As usual, I find myself out of step with the rest of you, America.

This fool goes crazy on a plane—dropping F bombs over the intercom, escaping down the emergency slide—and he’s being hailed as some sort of folk hero? WTF? Believe me, this idiocy is the last thing you want to happen when you’re on a plane. Sure, his job is stressful. He has to deal with assholes all day. Well, damn, who doesn’t?

I don’t get the hype. But I do hope JetBlue is able to hire someone who’s been out of work for a while to replace Mr. Slater. So perhaps some good can come from this trifling behavior.

  1. Yeah, “hero” is definitely a misnomer. This guy just sort of acted out everyone’s innermost occupational frustrations. I worked fast food and customer service as a teen and we produced at least 5 “heroes” a week.

Now when you talk about fireman, the troops, and Aretha Franklin’s personal chef— now those guys are the REAL heroes.

  2. Awwww, c’mon…it’s not like the plane was in the air. Personally, I would’ve paid to see this happen.

Oh well, at least you’ve acknowledged his elevation to Diva-status, albeit a triflin’ one 😉

  3. I hate to see his behavior lauded, justified, or encouraged in anyway. In similar situations, I have always found it much more fun to stick around, play it cool, and make other people look like idiots.

  4. WELL SAID! In this society ridiculous hot-mess like this happens all the time. Why expect anything different from people these days. If your acting like a fool then it’s news. If your trying the save the world it goes unoticed. Well; this is our society and it’s not getting any better especially with mess like this.
