TPN‘s Trifling Person of the Week

Obama Health Care HecklingJoe Wilson

Some weeks it’s really hard to find a trifling person. Other times, like this week, it’s so easy that I don’t really feel like I’m earning my keep.

Remember when Bill Clinton had to explain Monica Lewinsky? Or when George W. Bush was giving his explanations for running the country into the ground? Or Ronald Reagan was red-faced about Iran-Contra?  Those were tough times, and those presidents faced angry foes. But Congress, whether Republicans or Democrats, conducted itself in session with respect for the office. Joe Wilson, despite what you told Sean Hannity, there is no double standard for decorum. Both parties have practiced when the President is speaking. So what the hell is the problem with your trifling ass?

  1. Apparently Joe never learned the aphorism “Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.”

  2. The man did this to gain political points and guest spots on fox news…and he’ll get them. What’s even dumber than the fact that he disrupted the President’s speech is the fact that he apparently didn’t even read the bill.

  3. Gee whiz, and when the entire Democratic side of the congress booed and hissed G. Bush during his 2007 speech on how social security ( a fine gov’t run operation) was going broke, that was true statesmanship.
And as far as saying someone was “lieing”, the funny thing is, the very next day, the messiah, the chief trifler, directed that clear, specific language be inserted into the bill prohibiting illegals from access to any public health care plan,,,,,,,,hummm, so who was the bigger trifler?

  4. Is this how we look to the rest of the world? Just plain stupid? People believing the idiot talking heads on TV, talk radio and apparently in our own Congress? Black Man get to be President of the United States and he still can’t get no respect. Town hall meetings out of pocket with illiterate people shouting nonsense. Lies are being told and people are too dumb to find the truth out for themselves. Or too lazy. America is doomed and we are seeing it happen right before our eyes. What should have Obama done when the economy was tanking? Nothing, like Bush? I guess that would have made the Conservatives happy. Just sit there and let all hell break loose. Real American. Now lives that could be saved with just a minimum amount of decent health care, and the people it will help the most are the ones acting the most foolish. But Obama cares too much to just let these idiots have sub-standard health care, so he soldiers on. Save these fools from themselves Mr. President. They sure don’t want to do it for ttemselves!

This guy really did just serve himself up to you on a silver platter. Then again, not calling him out would have been on a par with CNN not mentioning election results.

  6. What Joe Wilson did was hateful, hatefilled and unacceptable in a civilized nation. Hopefully he will be sanctioned as he rightly deserves. This type of conduct has never been exhibited in the history of this country and it will be repeated if Congress does not sanction Joe. Others will follow his lead. This president deserves courtesy and respect.

  7. I don’t know anything about the guy, but he said what a lot of people have been thinking . . .

  8. I think your attack on Joe Wilson is racially motivated; in the same vein as our congressman from Georgia, Hank Johnson believes Wilson’s remark was racially motivated. When do we become just men and not all racially motivated?

The Peoples News responds: You’re kidding, right, Renee, as far as our motivation?

    • Really, Renee? When do we start believing that some things are just wrong and NOT just racially motivated? It doesn’t matter if the President and Mr Wilson were both purple, you don’t disrespect the President like that.

    • Sorry –
but I think Taylor Swift’s winning that award was racially motivated and Kanye’s attack on Taylor was racially motivated…
I think it is all startin’ to wear on me…
Personally, truly – I do believe Joe Wilson’s comment was completely inappropriate and he deserves to be sanctioned in some way – He has already apologized. I do not believe it was racially motivated. There are people who do not agree with our current President. Just like the one before him, and the one before him, and the one before him…. The problem it seems is that if you disagree with this President… well.. you must hate black people… you are out of the mainstream… you need to shut up and stay home.
That is not right, and we all need to consider how we disrespect each other.

  9. I think a few of the people on this site were clearly just drawn in by all of the articles picking at black culture, and now that they see that this isn’t exactly “Free Republic” .com or something, they’re getting uncomfortable. Time too visit a different site now, guys!

The Peoples News responds: Hey, don’t run off our readers, Lou!
