TPN’s Trifling ‘What the Hell’ Moment of the Week

Low Flying Plane‘Air Force One’

It doesn’t get more trifling than this: a Boeing 747 buzzing lower Manhattan. On purpose. For a photo op. Who were the masterminds behind this plan? Louis Caldera, the director of the White House Military Office who approved the mission. The FAA, which alerted New York’s city government, which told New York Police—but all three wanted to keep it hush-hush. So the poor citizens could be surprised, I suppose? Just like that great surprise Osama’s boys delivered on September 11. Just like on that fateful day, the plane, which was accompanied by an F-16 jet, sent people running for their lives. I hope Louis got the pictures he wanted.

  2. I don’t think anyone outside NYC can really speak to this other than out their ass, but since I have one, it says: WTF? Glad to see the CIC’s response showed respect and compassion for the NYC citizens, though.

  3. Totally agree. Seriously, who DIDN’T think this was a prize-winning moment of stupidity???
But be really careful with “it dosen’t get more trifling than this,” because you know it always can….and probably will!
